Dehradun, 3 Oct: District Magistrate, Dehradun, Savin Bansal has constituted a committee for resettlement of disaster affected families of Majra Batoli (Tehsil Vikasnagar) at their request. It may be recalled that in a public hearing held on 20 September under the chairmanship of District Magistrate Savin Bansal, the villagers from Majra Batoli had narrated their agony. The villagers had claimed that they have been wandering from door to door for years demanding relocation from their disaster-affected village but no one has taken any cognisance of their problems. The DM had assured the villagers of early action in this regard and had, later, ordered a quick inquiry into the ground situation in the stated village.
Upon learning about the actual situation in the village, the DM has set up a committee to make a detailed study and submit a report.
According to the villagers, as a result of the disaster in Maja Batoli of village Misraas Patti of Tehsil Vikasnagar, the road to Majra Batoli has been completely damaged and it is not possible to rebuild a road. The residents of the area had submitted an application requesting relocation.
At the assurance of the District Magistrate and the instructions for immediate action, the villagers are now hopeful of early relocation. Bansal has constituted a committee under the chairmanship of SDM Vikas Nagar as per the provisions of the Rehabilitation Policy 2007 and in accordance with the norms mentioned under Disaster Management and Rehabilitation Government Order 2021 of the Uttarakhand Government. SDM, Vikasnagar, Executive Engineer, PWD, Provincial Division, Dehradun, District Disaster Management Officer, Dehradun, Assistant Geologist, Geology and Mining Department, Dehradun, are members of the committee.
The District Magistrate has directed that the committee will conduct a joint inspection / detailed investigation of Majra Batoli of Village Misras Patti, Tehsil Vikasnagar and submit a clear report with its opinion and recommendations immediately.
