Dehradun, 22 May: In a commendable display of public service, District Magistrate Savin Bansal ensured immediate relief for a differently-abled woman by approving her disability pension on the spot and providing a free wheelchair.
Bansal is known to immediately address grievances through public hearings and multipurpose camps, and field visits. His determination, clean image, and empathetic approach has made him highly regarded among citizens.
During a recent public hearing, Rakhi, a resident of Ogal Bhatta, Clement Town, approached the DM’s office with her husband, Vijendra Kumar, seeking disability pension and employment assistance. Rakhi, a forty percent physically disabled lady, narrated her ordeal, prompting Bansal to approve her pension immediately. Additionally, he ensured she and her husband were safely transported home in a “Sarathi” vehicle.
Following the DM’s directives, District Social Welfare Officer Deepankar Ghildiyal swiftly intervened, contacting the woman’s family. Since she lacked an income certificate, coordination with the tehsil office facilitated its immediate issuance, enabling her pension application to be processed online. Rakhi will receive Rs 1,500 per month starting June, with disbursement beginning in July 2025. The Social Welfare Department also provided her with a free wheelchair.
