Doon police arrest 2 drug smugglers with smack worth Rs 10 lakh

Dehradun, 10 Jan: Dehradun Police have arrested two drug smugglers carrying 32 grams of illegal smack worth approximately Rs 10 lakh, here, on Friday. The accused were caught near IT Park Gate on Dhoran Road while transporting the drugs from Western Uttar Pradesh to Dehradun.

One of the accused, Neeraj Singh (30), is a contract worker at ONGC, while the other, Pushpit Shukla (24), is a resident of Uttar Pradesh.

According to the police, SHO PD Bhatt of Rajpur conducted routine checks at hotels, restaurants, bars, and suspicious vehicles. Acting on a tip-off, the team intercepted two individuals riding an Activa scooter near IT Park Gate, Dhoran Road. Upon searching, the police found and seized 40 small packets ready for sale, Rs 10,620 in cash, and an electronic weighing scale. During interrogation, the accused confessed to being involved in drug trafficking for a long time. They revealed that they purchased smack from a supplier named Arun in places like Moradabad, Najibabad and Haridwar. They targeted young individuals, especially college students in Dehradun, and sold the drugs in small packets at high prices. The police have registered a case under the Sections 8/21/27/29/60 of the NDPS Act at Rajpur Police Station and are investigating further to identify others involved in the network.
