Dehradun, 17 Apr: Dr  Gunmeet Bindra, Principal, Welham Boys’ School, and Monica Chandel, Coordinator, Outreach Programme, were presented the prestigious REX Karmaveer Education Change Champion Fellowship and Karmaveer Chakra Award instituted by International Confederation of NGOs (iCONGO) in partnership with the UN, in April 2019, at its Inaugural Chapter. On the occasion, they launched these exclusive Awards and Fellowship for schools that promote volunteering/service and values-based character-rooted holistic education.
As a mission, REX Karmaveer Global Fellowship and the Karmaveer Chakra Awards were conceptualised in 2003 and launched in 2006 as an integral part of the Right every Wrong and The Joy of Giving movements created and promoted by REX founders. At REX, the focus is on real heroes and practitioners who can walk the talk and not just people who can deliver speeches. Hence, the slogan ‘Not just talks, ideas for action’.
“It’s a step towards acknowledging and celebrating the work of education leaders in Community Work and Volunteering. Volunteering helps children to Unleash Heroic Potential by inspiring solid character and helps individuals to go beyond the ordinary and strive for extraordinary. It enables positive transformation and helps people to understand that all change starts with the self. I change to change India and the world,” said Bindra.
REX Karmaveer #EducationChangeChampions Fellowship and Awards 2019 was a unique event. Education Leaders were recognised for the first time for proactively promoting and encouraging Volunteering and Community Service in their schools. This noble cause requires exclusivity and this imperative need has led to the creation of an exclusive Fellowship & Award for Schools and Education Leaders “The REX Karmaveer #Education Change Champions Fellowship and Awards”.
