DEHRADUN, 15 Feb: Thousand of students of Uttaranchal University paid heart-felt tribute to the CRPF martyrs of Pulwama amid slogans of “Bharat Mata Ki Jai” at their campus today. A candle march was organized on the occasion, beginning from Law College of the university to the Shaurya wall situated inside the campus. The candle march was led by Chancellor, Jitender Joshi. The students, teachers and non-teaching staffs of the university thronged to the venue and observed two minutes silence for peace to the departed souls. Names of the martyred soldiers were called one by one accompanying patriotic slogans. The entire campus was emotion packed and some of the students burst into tears.
In his speech, Joshi observed that the entire university is at pains and stunned because of the ghastly attack on CRPF soldiers at Pulwama. “We strongly condemn this act of cowardice, offer our heart-felt tribute to the martyred soldiers and pray for speedy recovery of injured soldiers”, said Joshi in his emotional address.
In his address, Principal of Law College Dehradun, Dr. Rajesh Bahuguna exhorted the youth to be ready to fight against terrorism.
“We must take a solemn vow to defend the honour of our country”, said Dr. Bahuguna. Recalling the sacrifice of the soldiers, he expressed hope that the supreme sacrifice of the soldiers does not go in vain and the nation triumphs over terrorism in the ultimate run.
Those present at the venue were Chancellor, Jitender Joshi, Vice Chancellor, Dr. N. K. Joshi, Director, Abhishek Joshi, Registrar, Ajai Singh, Principal Dr. Rajesh Bahuguna and thousands of students, teachers and employees.
