Grafest-25 begins at Graphic Era

Dehradun, 1 May: Graphic Era’s annual celebration, Grafest- 25, was inaugurated with great enthusiasm, here, today. Chairman of Graphic Era Group of Institutions Dr Kamal Ghanshala said that this year’s Grafest will be student centric.

Chairman Dr Kamal Ghanshala inaugurated Grafest-25 this morning with a ribbon cutting ceremony. On this occasion, while addressing the faculty members and students, he said that the format of Grafest has been changed this year. Instead of inviting only Bollywood singers, this four-day event will feature interesting technical and cultural competitions for students allowing them to learn new things while being entertained. The aim of presenting Grafest in a different way is to encourage students to participate in extracurricular activities.

He said that Grafest started in 1994 and is celebrating its 31st year. This year, more than five thousand students from 29 countries are participating, which shows its popularity at the international level. Participants from India and abroad will get an opportunity to gain new experiences, collaborate as well as build good relationships with each other. This year the winners will be given cash prizes worth Rs 51 lakh. This amount would increase next year. Dr Ghanshala shared his success mantra and urged the students to keep their basics clear.

On the first day of Grafest, today, students started arriving at the university campus early in the morning. The students were excited and proceeded for their programme venues after the registration process. In technical competitions, students were seen flying water rockets at some places and investigating crime scenes at others.

In Graphic Era’s Silver Jubilee Convention Centre, Krishna showed the way to Arjun in Kurukshetra. Students were seen playing the role of young ministers in the Youth Parliament. Apart from this, exciting competitions like hackathon, bridge designing, quiz, reverse shark tank, cooking, origami, petri plate art, valorant and BGMI Game were also organised. On this occasion, the students set up stalls and exhibitions.

This celebration of technology, creativity and enthusiasm showcased a glimpse of diverse cultures. Folk dances by Team Devbhoomi, Team Agni Pravah, Team Triyugi, Pratibha, Pari, Ishita Gurung, Vissal Singh, western dances by Team Incredibles, Team Trishakti, Nikhil, Riddhi Batra, Ashish Sharma, Prapti Chaturvedi received huge applause. Folk songs by Team Morpankh, Team Kedarkhand, Team Moksha, Anmol Tyagi, Kasak Prasad and western songs by Kritika Kundaliya, Vrinda, Lavanya Rauthan Riya Kandpal kept the audience captivated. Later, students grooved to the tunes of DJ Bak Flash till late night.

Students will showcase their talent in technical and cultural competitions for three days. On the last day, famous Bollywood singer Amit Trivedi will spread the magic of his voice. At the inauguration ceremony, Vice Chancellor of Graphic Era Deemed University Dr Narpinder Singh, Vice Chancellor of Graphic Era Hill University Prof Rakesh Kumar Sharma, officials, faculty members from both universities and hundreds of students were present.
