Roorkee, 12 May: The Innovation and Incubation Cell (IIC) of Quantum University marked a significant milestone on 10 May with the successful organisation of the Startup Award Ceremony under the GENESIS-QUIC initiative. The event was a celebration of student-led innovation, entrepreneurial courage, and futuristic thinking.
Present was Prof (Dr) Vivek Kumar, Vice Chancellor of Quantum University, as the Chief Guest, alongside distinguished faculty members, IIC team members, student innovators, and aspiring entrepreneurs from across departments.
In his address, Prof Vivek Kumar emphasised the critical role of startups in shaping India’s future, urging students to explore entrepreneurship as a powerful path to nation-building. “Startups are not just about business, they are about solving real-world problems,” he said. India needs leaders who innovate, take risks, and build with purpose. I encourage every student to dream big and act bold.”
The highlight of the ceremony was the award distribution, where five outstanding student-led startups were each granted Rs 1 lakh to support their entrepreneurial journey. These winners were selected for their originality, relevance, and potential to create real impact:
- Prathama and Team – Beauty Blondoir
A modern personal care startup focusing on sustainable, handcrafted beauty solutions tailored to individual needs. - Somil and Rishav Rawat – Adventure Link
A unique venture blending tourism and technology to promote eco-adventures and responsible travel in Uttarakhand. - Sanat and Team – Campus Seeker
A student-oriented platform designed to streamline college networking, academic updates, and resource sharing. - Satyam Kumar – Curexil Pharmaceutical
A health-tech initiative working on affordable and effective drug solutions, especially targeting rural medical needs. - Anshuman Singh – AI-Powered Sniper Detecting System
A breakthrough defence innovation offering AI-based surveillance tools for national security and battlefield safety.
Additionally, IIC’s student volunteers who played a crucial role in facilitating the entrepreneurial ecosystem on campus were acknowledged and awarded certificates of appreciation.
The Startup Award Ceremony reflects Quantum University’s continued commitment to fostering a vibrant innovation culture where young minds are empowered to think independently and act impactfully. GENESIS-QUIC, through such initiatives, not only supports startups with funding but also provides them with mentorship, incubation, and real-world exposure.
