DEHRADUN, 13 Feb: Parina Madanpotra, an exceptional rhythmic gymnast, has brought pride to Maharashtra and India with her outstanding performance at the 38th National Games in Uttarakhand. She clinched three gold medals—one in the hoop event, another in clubs, and a third for Team Maharashtra. Additionally, she earned two bronze medals, one in the ribbon event and another in the all-around category. Her accomplishments reflect years of hard work, resilience, and an unwavering commitment to excellence. However, behind these triumphs lies a journey filled with passion, obstacles, and an indomitable spirit.
A Childhood Dream That Became a Passion, Parina’s fascination with gymnastics ignited when she was just six years old. Her parents, recognizing her endless energy, encouraged her to engage in a sport. What began as a playful activity soon blossomed into a profound passion. “In the beginning, it was just about enjoying the sport. But after two to three years, I started feeling a real connection with gymnastics. That’s when I decided to compete seriously,” she reminisced.
Parina’s defining moment arrived at the Asian Championship, where she made history as the first Indian rhythmic gymnast to achieve 5th place in the competition. “That was an unforgettable moment,” she said with a smile. “The feeling of standing among the top athletes in Asia was beyond words. It wasn’t just about winning—it was about proving that Indian gymnasts belong on the global stage.” Like any athlete, Parina has encountered her share of challenges. She faced multiple rejections while trying to join the national team, but she never lost her determination. “There were times when I wasn’t selected, and it was tough. But I never let setbacks break me,” she shared. “I kept believing in my coach, Miss Varsha Upadhayay, and continued to work harder.” Her persistence has truly paid off as she continues to challenge herself and strive for even greater achievements.
Aiming for Olympic Glory, With over a decade of experience in rhythmic gymnastics, Parina is now focused on her most ambitious goal yet—the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics. “I want to explore my full potential. I have international trials coming up, and I’m determined to qualify and win medals for India,” she expressed with conviction. “In the next five years, I aim to be at the Olympics, representing my country and bringing home a medal.” An Inspiring Message for Future Athletes, Parina’s journey serves as a powerful testament to perseverance and passion. Her message to young gymnasts and aspiring athletes is both simple and profound:
“Never give up. Stopping is not an option. Keep pushing, keep exploring your potential, and believe in yourself.” With her unwavering dedication and fearless attitude, Parina Madanpotra is not just winning medals—she is inspiring a whole generation of Indian athletes to dream big and relentlessly pursue their goals.
