DEHRADUN, 13 Feb: In a moment of triumph and glory, Yogeshwar Singh soared through the air, executing a flawless routine on the vaulting table. With a remarkable score of 13.50, he secured the gold medal in the Men’s Artistic Vaulting Table Gymnastics category, leaving behind Tapeshwarnath Das of Odisha and Siddharth Verma of Uttar Pradesh. It was more than just a win, it was the culmination of 25 years of dedication, passion, and relentless perseverance.

Yogeshwar’s love for gymnastics started at an age when most children were still learning to balance themselves on two feet. At just five years old, his father urged him to practice gymnastics, believing in its ability to build strength, discipline, and agility. Back then, it was just a fun activity for little Yogesh, a way to play and stay active.

But what began as mere fun soon turned into a passion. With each passing year, his skills sharpened, and his determination deepened. He trained relentlessly, pushing himself beyond limits, falling, failing, but always rising again. It was in his first international competition that he realized his true potential. That was the turning point—a moment of awakening where he felt an immense responsibility to represent India on a bigger stage.

Yogeshwar’s journey in gymnastics wasn’t always smooth. There were injuries, setbacks, and moments of doubt, but his spirit never wavered. “I enjoyed every bit of my struggle—be it stress, failure, pain, or ups and downs,” he said with a smile. For him, every challenge was a lesson, every fall a stepping stone.

Unlike many who get disheartened by failure, Yogeshwar embraced it as his teacher. He firmly believed that mistakes weren’t meant to break him but to make him stronger. “Learning from my mistakes has been my secret mantra,” he shared, encouraging young athletes to adopt the same mindset.

Over the years, Yogeshwar has consistently been a finalist in major gymnastics championships, including the Asian Games. This time, his sights are set on something bigger—a medal for India at the Asian Games. His recent gold victory has only fueled his hunger to achieve that dream.

He knows the road ahead won’t be easy. Competing at the international level means facing the best gymnasts from around the world. But if there’s one thing Yogeshwar has proved, it’s that his resilience is unbreakable. He is ready to push harder, train smarter, and leave no stone unturned in his pursuit of gold for India.

Gymnastics has often taken a backseat in India’s sports culture, overshadowed by cricket and other mainstream sports. But Yogeshwar sees hope. According to him, infrastructure is gradually improving, with more clubs and private academies opening up to provide better access to aspiring gymnasts. “People are getting into this sport, and soon it will become a popular one,” he said confidently.

His victory is more than just a medal, it is an inspiration for thousands of young athletes who dream of making it big in gymnastics. He believes that India has immense potential, and with the right support, the country can produce world-class gymnasts.

When asked what message he had for young gymnasts and aspiring athletes, Yogeshwar’s words were simple yet powerful:

“Believe in yourself, embrace your struggles, and never fear failure. Success isn’t about how many times you win but about how many times you get up after falling. Stay disciplined, stay hungry, and most importantly, enjoy the journey. The best is yet to come.”

As he stood on the podium, gold medal in hand, Yogeshwar Singh wasn’t just a champion in gymnastics; he was a champion of perseverance, a symbol of unwavering dedication, and a beacon of hope for India’s future in the sport.
