Gov inaugurates Kumaun Varsity’s ‘CDS General Bipin Rawat Pharmacy Block’

Dehradun, 29 Jul: Governor and Chancellor Lieutenant General Gurmit Singh (Retd) on Wednesday virtually inaugurated the newly constructed “CDS General Bipin Rawat Pharmacy Academic Block” at the Bhimtal Campus of Kumaun University.

The Governor said that naming the building after India’s first Chief of Defence Staff, General Bipin Rawat, is highly meaningful. He noted that the academic block will inspire students with the values of discipline, dedication, and patriotism. He urged every student to pledge to use their knowledge for the service of the nation and society.

Appreciating the achievements of the University’s Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences, the Governor expressed confidence that the new academic block would provide fresh momentum to research, skill development, and innovation. He said that the building, constructed under the Government of India’s PM-USHA Scheme, would strengthen quality and research-oriented higher education in line with the objectives of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020.

The Governor further said that Uttarakhand is endowed with a rich natural heritage of medicinal and aromatic plants, offering immense opportunities for pharmaceutical research. Referring to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of the “Decade of Uttarakhand”, he said that a developed Uttarakhand would play a significant role in building a Viksit Bharat (Developed India), with universities and the youth making the most important contribution to this goal.

Additional Secretary to the Governor Reena Joshi and Professor Diwan Singh Rawat, Vice-Chancellor of Kumaun University, were also present on the occasion.
