Champawat, 26 May: Governor Lt General Gurmit Singh (Retd) reached Advait Ashram Mayawati at Lohaghat, here, during a two-day visit on Friday as per schedule. During the tour of the Ashram, he enjoyed the natural beauty of the area.
Earlier, he was given a Guard of Honour by the police personnel at the Circuit House helipad. District Magistrate Narendra Singh Bhandari welcomed the Governor on his arrival in Champawat district.
After reaching Mayawati Ashram, the Governor said that nature helps in relieving stress. He noted that this ashram attracts people from the country and abroad towards spirituality. He also appreciated the services and facilities of the charitable hospital being run in Mayawati.
The Governor inquired about the activities of the Ashram from Swami Shuddhidanand, President of the Charitable Hospital. The Swami informed the Governor about the history of Mayawati, recalling that Swami Vivekananda had come here in 1901 and stayed for a week.
Swami Shuddhidanand told the Governor that free medical camps are organised here from time to time, where hundreds of patients are treated and operated on by foreign doctors.
Lt General Singh then visited the Mayawati Ashram complex and observed its beauty. He said that the Mayawati Ashram situated in the lap of Lohaghat is a delightful place. He also advised the youth to follow Swami Vivekananda. He later meditated in the meditation room and extolled the experience.
Also present on this occasion were Superintendent of Police Devendra Singh Pincha, Governor’s ADC Major Tarun Kumar, Officer on Special Duty BP Nautiyal, Chief Development Officer Rajendra Singh Rawat, Additional District Magistrate Hemant Kumar Verma, SDM Rinku Bisht, Police Officer Vipin Chandra Pant, Chief Medical Officer KK Agarwal along with officers and managers of the ashram, Swami Suhrdanand, Swami Ekdevanand, Swami Atmavidanand, Swami Kshmanand, Swami Mathuranand, Swami Dhyansthanand, Kirti Bagauli and Tribhuvan Upadhyay. On arrival at the helipad, the Governor was also welcomed by MLA Champawat’s representative Prakash Tiwari and others.
