CM flags of 11 clean fuel vehicles

Dehradun, 28 Jul: Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami today handed over subsidy cheques to six primary beneficiary vehicle owners under the Uttarakhand Clean Mobility Transformation Policy‑2024 at a programme organised at the CM’s Camp Office here. The Transport Department has already completed the subsidy and approval process for five other beneficiaries. On this occasion, the CM also flagged off eleven clean‑fuel based vehicles.
Addressing those present on the occasion, Dhami asserted that this support is not merely the financial assistance but a symbol of the state government’s commitment to building a clean, modern and environment‑friendly transport system in Uttarakhand. He emphasised that the initiative will promote clean‑fuel public transport in urban areas, reduce pollution caused by diesel vehicles and strengthen environmental protection. He observed that the world is facing the grave challenge of climate change and it is everyone’s responsibility to strike a balance between development and environmental conservation. He asserted that the development is meaningful only when it harmonises with nature and ensures a safe and clean future for coming generations.
The CM reminded that under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, India is playing a global leadership role in green energy and sustainable development. The target of net‑zero emissions by 2070, the Lifestyle for Environment campaign, the PM e‑Bus service and the expansion of solar and other renewable energy sources reflect the country’s commitment to environmental protection. He also observed that Uttarakhand, nestled in the lap of the Himalayas and the origin of the Ganga and Yamuna rivers, is blessed with biodiversity, forests, rivers and natural heritage that form the nation’s priceless legacy. Protecting this sacred land’s environment and natural balance is a collective responsibility. He claimed that the government’s clear vision is that development and environment are complementary, and growth will be pursued alongside conservation.
Dhami reminded that the Clean Mobility Transformation Policy‑2024 aims to make public transport in urban areas more effective and modern, reduce pollution from old diesel vehicles and encourage CNG and other clean‑fuel transport systems. He expressed confidence that the policy would lay a strong foundation for clean, safe and sustainable transport in the state. The CM added that the government is expanding electric bus operations in Dehradun, Haridwar and Haldwani, while EV charging stations are being set up across the state to provide necessary infrastructure for clean‑fuel vehicles. Ropeways and modern urban transport systems are also being developed rapidly to make traffic smoother, safer and eco‑friendly, while reducing vehicular pressure and pollution in hill areas.
The CM added that the government is not limited to modernising transport but is also working to establish Uttarakhand as a national model of green development. Under the PM Surya Ghar scheme, rooftop solar installations are being promoted vigorously. The state has already achieved the initial target of 40,000 rooftop solar plants ahead of schedule and completed nearly 95 per cent of the total target. The government’s goal is to position Uttarakhand among the leading states in clean energy, green transport and sustainable development.
Dhami commented that the vehicle owners receiving subsidy cheques today are not just beneficiaries but pioneers of the green transport revolution in Uttarakhand. He expressed hope that their example would inspire other operators to adopt clean‑fuel vehicles. He stressed that no transformation can be permanent without public participation, and every citizen must join this campaign for environmental protection and clean transport.
On the occasion, Transport Minister Pradeep Batra, Cabinet Minister Ganesh Joshi, MLA Savita Kapoor, Dehradun Mayor Saurabh Thapliyal, Transport Secretary Ravinath Raman, the officials of the Transport Department and other dignitaries were among those present.
