CM honours 75 meritorious students

Dehradun, 27 May: Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami felicitated 75 meritorious students of high school and intermediate from the Uttarakhand Secondary Education Board at a ‘Medhavi Chhatra Samman’ ceremony at the CM’s official residence here today.
In the event organised by Amar Ujala newspaper, the CM acknowledged the role of the felicitation ceremony in encouraging talented students of the state. He emphasised that these students form the foundation of Uttarakhand’s bright future and have enhanced the state’s reputation along with their parents, teachers, and schools. He also asserted that his government is committed to empowering the young achievers in education sector.
Dhami asserted that the government is making continuous efforts to improve the education system, with special focus on quality education. NCERT textbooks have been made compulsory in all government schools, and free textbooks are provided to students from Classes 1 to 12 in government and aided schools. Not only this, a total of 226 schools are being developed as PM Shri Vidyalayas, while virtual classes are being conducted in 500 schools, he emphasised, and added that smart classrooms in hybrid mode are also being set up in 840 new schools.
Under the Chief Minister’s Medhavi Chhatra Protsahan Scholarship Scheme, meritorious students from Classes 6 to 12 in, both, government and non-government schools are being awarded scholarships every month. To support personality development, a scheme has been introduced to send meritorious students of Classes 10 and 12 from each development block on a nationwide tour.
Vocational education has also been initiated training in eight trades across secondary schools, benefitting over 42,000 students with skill-based education. For the preservation of local language and culture, books have been prepared in Garhwali, Kumaoni, and Jaunsari languages. The government is also introducing students from Classes 6 onwards till class 8 to Indian culture, folk traditions, and prominent personalities through the book Hamari Virasat. Furthermore, the Kaushal Programme (Skill Programme) has been launched to foster skills, entrepreneurship, and the Indian knowledge tradition among children.
On the occasion, Education Minister Dr Dhan Singh Rawat, Director General, Information, Banshidhar Tiwari, Amar Ujala Consultant Editor Uday Kumar, Amar Ujala Dehradun Editor Anoop Vajpayee, and Unit Head Pankaj Sharma were also present.
