Govt committed to developing Champawat as model district: Dhami

CM unveils projects worth Rs 123.79 crores in Champawat

Champawat, 29 Jun: Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami inaugurated and laid the foundation stones of 17 development projects worth Rs 123.79 crores at a grand programme in Champawat today. Of these, eight projects completed at a cost of Rs 27.79 crores were inaugurated, while nine new projects worth Rs 96 crores were launched.

On this occasion, Dhami also inaugurated the Jim Corbett Trail constructed at a cost of Rs 349.98 lakhs, under which various works related to Jim Corbett are being undertaken across the district. He also participated in the bhoomi pujan ceremony for the upcoming City Centre being built at the bus station roadways.

On this occasion, the CM also interacted with the priests of temples, paramilitary force personnel, the youth, public representatives, traders, dhaba operators, sanitation workers, teachers, entrepreneurs, women of self-help groups, taxi union members, bank employees, bar association members, intellectuals and the media persons.

Addressing the gathering, Dhami said that making Champawat the model district of Uttarakhand is his firm resolve. He stated that the government is continuously working to connect border districts with the mainstream of development and Champawat is now gaining a new identity in education, tourism, infrastructure, women empowerment, agriculture, trade and employment. He emphasised that the government’s aim is not merely to construct buildings and roads but to create a Champawat where youth find opportunities, women achieve self-reliance, farmers prosper, traders expand their businesses and every citizen enjoys equal benefits of development.

Dhami also announced that a modern multi-storey parking and shopping complex (City Centre) will be built in Champawat town at a cost of Rs 62.33 crores, which will solve parking problems and boost local trade. He added that commercial buildings, a women’s technology park, a modern library, knowledge centre, open gym and facilities for youth are also being developed.

Reminding the gathering of major initiatives, he said that a Women’s Sports College is being established at a cost of Rs 257 crores to provide national and international level sports facilities to daughters of the state, while a modern Science Centre worth Rs 58.52 crores is also coming up. Alongside, work is progressing on an agriculture college, gaushalas and modern farming techniques to enhance farmers’ income.

Dhami also claimed that the government is committed to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s mantra of “Vikas bhi aur Virasat bhi” and under the Manaskhand Mandir Mala Mission, development of Maa Purnagiri Dham, Sharda Corridor, Goljyu Corridor and Maa Varaahi Dham is being undertaken to promote religious tourism and generate employment opportunities.

He reminded that one ISBT at Tanakpur costing Rs 237.74 crores and a media centre worth Rs 14 crore are also being constructed. In Lohaghat, residential buildings for environment workers are being built, while in Banbasa a soldiers’ memorial and in Pati a multipurpose centre for soldiers are under progress.

Dhami said that the projects inaugurated and launched today are not just construction works but the strong foundation of a developed Champawat. These schemes will give wings to the dreams of youth, strength to women, prosperity to farmers, momentum to trade and a new identity to tourism. He expressed confidence that in the coming years Champawat will emerge as a model of inclusive, balanced and sustainable development and play a leading role in realising the vision of a developed Uttarakhand. He congratulated the people of the district for these projects and called for continuous public participation in the journey of development.

The programme was attended by District Panchayat Chairman Anand Singh Adhikari, Minister of State Shyam Pandey, Hema Joshi, Rohit Bisht, Mukesh Maharana, BJP District President Govind Samant, BJP State Minister Nirmal Mehra, District Magistrate Manish Kumar, Superintendent of Police Rekha Yadav, Chief Development Officer GS Khati, Additional District Magistrate Krishnanath Goswami along with all district-level officers, public representatives and a large number of citizens.
