Garhwal Post Bureau

Dehradun/Champawat, 20 Aug: A blood component separation unit established at a cost of nearly Rs 50 lakh was inaugurated at the District Hospital, Champawat, today, by Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami on virtual basis. Health Minister Subodh Uniyal was also present along with the CM in Dehradun during the virtual participation. The CM later also addressed the programme virtually and claimed that strengthening health facilities remains among the government’s highest priorities. Dhami also claimed that his government’s commitment to making Champawat an ideal and a model district is being translated into action on the ground.

The CM observed that Champawat is not merely a constituency for him but his karmabhoomi, and the establishment of the blood component separation unit will provide new strength to health services in the district. For the first time, the patients in Champawat will have access to life-saving blood components locally during the medical emergencies. Until now, such facilities in Kumaon division were available only at Rudrapur and Pithoragarh.

Dhami added that a 50-bed modern critical care block has also been constructed at the District Hospital Champawat at a cost of about Rs 20 crores, while CT scan, MRI and dialysis units have also been set up. Construction of a diagnostic wing and operation theatre at a cost of Rs 11.71 crores is currently underway, along with parking facilities at the lower ground floor.

The CM claimed that Uttarakhand is achieving new milestones under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He pointed out that road widening projects, modern parking facilities and a Rs 62 crore multi-storey parking and shopping complex at Champawat Roadways Station are being developed to ease congestion. Parking facilities have also been created at Maa Purnagiri Dham, Reetha Sahib and tourist rest houses.

He emphasised that future needs are being addressed through projects such as a modern city drainage system worth Rs 66 crores, underground electricity lines, and strengthening of the drinking water system with an investment exceeding Rs 240 crores.

Health Minister Subodh Uniyal said that the government is working to make health services modern, accessible and people-centric across the state. He noted that the blood component separation unit at Champawat will ensure timely availability of essential blood components locally, reducing dependence on hospitals in other districts.

Health Secretary Vinay Shankar Pandey, Subhash Bagoli, Prakash Chandra Tiwari, Satish Pandey, Anand Singh Adhikari, Govind Samant, Prema Pandey, Govind Verma, Shyam Narayan Pandey, Manoj Kalakoti, Mukesh Maharana and Hema Joshi were among those present.
