Grand Exhibition of Mango Varieties in Delhi: Unique Initiative by Pantvarsity

Pantnagar, 6 Jul: A grand exhibition of mango varieties organised today by Govind Ballabh Pant University of Agriculture and Technology, Pantnagar, at Akash Mess of Air Force Headquarters, New Delhi, drew significant attention not only from consumers and farmers but also from some of the highest-ranking military and administrative dignitaries of the nation.

On this occasion, Chief of Defence Staff (CDS) of India, General Anil Chauhan, Air Chief Marshal A P. Singh, along with several senior military and administrative officials, graced the event with their esteemed presence. They observed the superior mango varieties developed by the university and tasted several of the featured types.

The university’s scientists and horticulture experts presented a rich collection of both traditional and improved mango varieties such as Dasheri, Langra, Chausa, Amrapali, Mallika, Ratol, and Alphonso. In addition, special varieties developed in the university’s research laboratories were also showcased. Attendees were informed about the characteristics of these varieties, including quality, productivity, and disease resistance.

Commending the university’s efforts, CDS General Anil Chauhan remarked that Pantnagar Agricultural University is playing a leading role in agricultural innovation. He noted that such exhibitions facilitate knowledge exchange between farmers and consumers and accelerate agricultural diversification in the country.

Air Chief Marshal AP Singh also congratulated the university’s scientists and researchers, stating that this exhibition not only strengthens our agricultural heritage but also fosters awareness among future generations about fruit conservation and enhancement.

The exhibition attracted a large number of mango enthusiasts, farmer representatives, horticulture experts, and students who participated with great enthusiasm.

Welcoming the guests, Vice-Chancellor Dr Manmohan Singh Chauhan stated that the university is committed to the development of superior fruit varieties through continuous research and innovation. He also highlighted that the university’s varieties are gaining national recognition and that extensive efforts are underway to promote their cultivation across the country.

This event not only served as an impressive showcase of mango abundance, diversity, and quality but also emerged as a powerful platform for interaction and collaboration between agricultural scientists and military officials. The initiative demonstrated Pantnagar Agricultural University’s resolve to elevate its contribution and commitment to modern agricultural development to new heights.
