Graphic Era holds seminar on curbing child beggary

Dehradun, 25 Apr: The Department of Management Studies, Graphic Era Deemed University, organised a seminar on ‘Child Begging’ and ‘Child Labour’. This seminar was in collaboration with ‘Ghanshyam Oli Foundation’ situated in Pithoragarh and on this occasion CO, City, Shekhar Suyal was the Chief Guest.
Suyal expressed his concern over the growing problem of child labour and begging in India. He told the students that this was a serious problem and ought to be curbed soon otherwise it would turn into a far bigger problem.
Head, Department of Management, Dr Navneet Rawat told the students they should understand and realise their social responsibility and motivated them to channelise their energy in this direction. He added that a student’s education was complete only when there was a holistic approach and social responsibilities were fulfilled.
Pro Vice Chancellor Dr HN Nagaraja said child begging and child labour were like cancers in society and it the youth could bring about a positive change in society. If anyone observed a child begging or witnessed child labour, then one ought to immediately report to an NGO or the police. The Ghanshyam Oli Foundation in Pithoragarh had been continuously making efforts in this direction and trying to create awareness among youth and inspire them to be the change.
Social Activist Ajay Oli of Ghanshyam Oli Foundation said the main objective of the foundation was to curb this social evil. The organisation wanted to give a better future to young minds.
HOD, Management Department, Dr Navneet Rawat, Prof Arvind Mohan, Prof Bindu Sharma, Prof Manish Kumar, Prof Girish Lakhera, Narendra Bohra, along with students of BBA and MBA were present on the occasion. Mehak Sethi anchored the event.
