Dehradun, 24 Sep: Is medicine just a means of treatment, or does it also guarantee patient safety? To explore this important question and spread awareness about drug safety, Graphic Era Institute of Medical Sciences organised its 5th Pharmacovigilance Week.
Through this week-long programme, the aim was to promote adverse drug reaction reporting and to develop a strong engagement among healthcare providers. The theme was: Your Safety is Just a Click Away – Report to PvPI.
As part of the programme, special awareness sessions were organised for primary health centre staff and pharmacists. Medical students, junior residents, and nursing staff were made familiar with the details of drug safety and adverse drug reporting. The week concluded with a quiz competition and an award ceremony, in which participants enthusiastically took part.
The event was organised in collaboration with the WHO Collaborating Centre – Pharmacovigilance in Public Health Programmes and Regulatory Services, National Coordination Centre, Indian Pharmacopoeia Commission, Ghaziabad, the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Government of India, and Graphic Era Institute of Medical Sciences.
The programme saw active participation from Dean Dr SL Jethani, Medical Superintendent Dr GS Jheetay, Medical Director Dr Puneet Tyagi, DMS Dr Shashi Shukla, Associate Professor Dr Ashish Sharma, along with their team – Dr Ankur Singh, Dr MFA Makki, Dr Pushkar Mani, and Senior Residents Dr Rahul Gupta, Dr Smriti, and Dr Ramkiran.
