Dehradun, 2 Oct: The Harbans Kapoor Memorial Trust successfully organised its annual Speech Competition at the auditorium of ITM College, here, on 30 September. This year’s theme was “The Importance of the New Education Policy in the Context of a Developed India”, which saw enthusiastic participation from various colleges, with students showcasing their insightful thoughts on the subject.
The competition concluded with stellar performances by the students of DAV PG College, with Mahak Bhandari securing the first position and Shivani Thapliyal taking the second position. Anjali from MKP PG College claimed the third position. These winners were applauded for their deep understanding of the topic and their articulate presentations, which greatly impressed the judges.
MLA Savita Kapoor emphasised the significance of the New Education Policy in her address, stating, “The New Education Policy lays the foundation for a brighter future for our country. It is designed to equip students with new skills and innovative thinking that will help build a stronger and more developed India.”
Nishant Thapliyal, the founder of ITM College, also shared his thoughts, highlighting the importance of the New Education Policy in elevating the standard of education in India and making it globally competitive. He praised all the participants for their remarkable efforts and wished them success in their future endeavours.
Dr OP Kulshreshtha, Secretary of the Harbans Kapoor Memorial Trust, paid tribute to the late Harbans Kapoor, recalling his immense contributions to various fields, including sports, healthcare, and politics. He stated, “Harbans Kapoor’s vision continues to guide us as we remain committed to serving society through the trust and by following in his footsteps.”
The event was formally inaugurated by Amit Kapoor, a senior leader of the Bharatiya Janata Party, and Nishant Thapliyal by lighting the ceremonial lamp. Amit Kapoor encouraged the students to actively contribute to the nation’s development through education and emphasised the far-reaching impact of the New Education Policy.
The competition was judged by a distinguished panel: Ankita Singh – Masters in Hindi Literature; Lt Col Karuna Thapliyal – who has trained both lady and gentlemen cadets in grooming and training; Col Arvind Jadli – Former Director, Survey of India, now running an institute for competitive exam training.
Prominent attendees included Sumit Pandey, President of GMS Mandal, Vinod Rawat, Hitesh Kumar Singh, Santosh Kotia, Atul Kapoor, and Satish Kumar Sahni.
The event concluded with the trust felicitating all participants, and special awards were presented to the winners. The Harbans Kapoor Memorial Trust reaffirmed its commitment to organising more such events in the future, providing a platform for young talents to express their ideas and contribute to society’s development.
