Dehradun, 24 Aug: The First Lady of the state, Gurmeet Kaur, attended the Gorkhali Women’s Haritalika Teej Festival Fair–2025 held on Sunday at Mahendra Ground, Garhi Cantt, here, as the Chief Guest.
The entire venue turned festive with the enthusiastic participation of women dressed in red attire. Traditional folk dances and songs presented by Gorkhali women’s groups enhanced the grandeur of the event. Noted folk singers from Nepal, Asma Banjade and Madhu Pariyar, captivated the audience with their soulful performances.
Extending greetings on the occasion of Teej, First Lady Gurmeet Kaur praised the efforts of the organising committee. She said that Haritalika Teej is not merely a traditional festival, but a living symbol of women’s empowerment, family unity, and community cooperation. She emphasised that this festival is deeply rooted in cultural heritage and also inspires confidence and creativity among women.
She further noted that, for the past 16 years, the Gorkhali Women’s Committee has been making commendable efforts to preserve traditions and bring diverse communities together through this festival.
