Health Dept to soon get 1377 nursing officers

DEHRADUN, 12 Sep: The health department of the state is soon going to get 1377 nursing officers. After much effort, the State Medical Services Selection Board has released the year-wise merit list and handed over the names of the selected candidates to the Directorate General of Health. The Directorate General of Health will soon deploy these nursing officers who have found a place in the merit list in the government hospitals of the hill areas.

The Controller of Examinations of State Medical Services Selection Board, Prof Vijay Juyal said that the Directorate General of Health had provided the requisition to the Board to fill 1564 vacant posts of male and female nursing staff in various government hospitals of the state. Online applications were invited by the selection board from qualified candidates. After this, a year-wise merit list was prepared after checking all the necessary certificates of the candidates. Of these, 1461 male and female nursing officers were selected in the merit list against the total vacant posts. As many as 1377 candidates were selected under different categories but due to the non-availability of candidates for 103 posts, these posts have been carried forward for the future. The final result of 84 candidates who got places in the year-wise merit list has been withheld in view of the writ petitions pending in the High Court. Thus, against 1564 vacant posts, the final merit list has been released for 1377 posts. The number of Nursing Officer female diploma holders is 748, Nursing Officer female degree holders are 370, and Nursing Officer male diploma holders is 163, and 96 have been selected in the Nursing Officer male degree holder category.

On the occasion, Dr Dhan Singh Rawat, Minister of Medical Health and Medical Education, issued a statement, in which he said that, after a long time, the health department in the state has got 1377 new nursing officers, whose first deployment will be done soon in the government hospitals of the hill districts of the state.
