High alert in Doon after Operation Sindoor in Pakistan

Dehradun, 7 May: After the Indian Armed Forces carried out Operation Sindoor against terrorists in Pakistan, Doon has been put on high alert. The police have launched a verification drive, during which over 2,000 people have been checked. So far, 316 people have been fined under the Police Act, and more than Rs 31 lakh has been collected in penalties.

According to the police, this drive is being carried out in both urban and rural areas of the district. Police teams, along with paramilitary forces, are checking the identity documents of people, especially those who are new or from outside the area.

So far, over 2,000 people have been verified. If anyone is found without proper documents or irregularities are found, they are being fined. A total of 316 people have been fined under the Police Act, and the total fine amount is over Rs 31 lakhs.

In addition, 115 suspects have been brought to the police station for questioning. The police are also taking action against people who have not verified their tenants. Another 135 people have been fined under different sections of the Police Act.

“Security has been increased and the police are fully alert. The aim is to keep the city safe and prevent any suspicious activity. The checking drive will continue in the coming days,” said SSP Ajay Singh.
