Dehradun, 6 Jun: HaritaDhara Research Development and Education Foundation (HRDEF) is organising several workshops and activities related to the 54th United Nations (UN) Earth Day. HRDEF organised a Green Earth Campaign for Sustainable Future beginning in April and ending during World Environment Day (WED) on 5 June, as 12th Harita Month.

HRDEF organized Online Painting, Essay/Memoir, Film, Quiz competitions and Uttarakhand State Offline Events in Government Schools from 12 April to 20 May. Dr Anant Bhaskar Garg, Director, HRDEF delivered talks and workshops on above topics in various schools. This year’s topics are Achieving Mission LiFE for Sustainable Future and Living, and Health, Well-being of Us, and Planet in the Age of Plastics. Main purpose of these events is to create awareness and capacity building among students for Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), Climate Change, and Environmental issues for sustainability literacy and Green Education program of the UNESCO. Students from different parts of the country showcased their creativity and the after-school GOAL programme girls students made science models, eco-bricks using waste materials to give message for reduction of plastics and waste from planet Earth. Dr Manisha talked about climate change, greening education, biodiversity with hands-on sessions with students in government schools. This month culminates with an interactive session on Land Restoration, Desertification, and Drought Resilience theme of WED 2024 by Dr Anant Bhaskar Garg.
Prayanshi, Youth Coordinator, HRDEF conducted coding and mobile app development sessions. HRDEF partnered with Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) to open Standards Clubs in school of Uttarakhand, Sirmaur (HP), colleges and conducted various workshops in schools, polytechnics, and Graphic Era Hill University on Standards, and Quality Consciousness with support from BIS. HRDEF conducted an international Design competition Desig-n-athon. These events are successful because of efforts and support from Principals, Teachers, Students, BIS Dehradun, State Education Dept, Vijay, Suman, Sushma, Prayanshi, Vaishnavi, Santhoshi, Sweety, Kanika, Rani, Payal, and other students of GyanDhara (GOAL) programme.
