DEHRADUN, 23 Jul: Bimla Gunjyal, IG, Uttarakhand Police Guard Prison, today paid a courtesy call on Speaker Ritu Khanduri Bhushan at her official residence. During this, the Speaker congratulated Gunjyal on getting the charge of the first woman IG Prisons of Uttarakhand.
During this, Khanduri talked to the IG on various topics regarding law and order in the state. The Speaker said that all possible efforts should be made by the Police Department for prevention of crimes against women and for disposal of crimes committed. Along with the rights of women and children, the cooperation of the police department is also necessary for information about the various schemes being run for their welfare. The Speaker, especially, told the police to take concrete steps to check the growing trend of drug abuse among the youth and to curb drug dealers in the state.
