Dehradun, 29 Jul: Illegal mining activities were discovered today at a construction site near Kuthalgate by the district administration. Four vehicles were seized, and a fine of Rs 7.20 lakh was imposed for the illegal mining.
After receiving complaints regarding illegal mining activities, District Magistrate Savin Bansal directed the SDM of Mussoorie to take immediate action.
Following the DM’s instructions, a team from the district administration and police reached the site. During the inspection, one JCB, one Poclain machine, and two pickup vehicles used for transporting mining materials were found at the site. All the vehicles were seized. The JCB and Poclain machine were sealed on the spot, while the pickup trucks were moved to the Kuthalgate police outpost.
A penalty of Rs 7.20 lakh was imposed for the illegal mining. Legal cases have also been registered against the owners of the vehicles.
DM Savin Bansal said that strict action will continue against illegal mining in the district. He has given clear instructions to officials to resolve such complaints without delay.
