Indian Independence Day celebrated at Everest Base Camp

Dehradun, 17 Aug: Citizens of India and Nepal jointly celebrated Indian Independence Day at the Everest Base Camp in the Himalayas. More than 100 citizens of India and Nepal gathered at the Everest Base Camp and hoisted the Tricolour in the shadow of the world’s highest peak. During trekking at the Everest Base Camp, Uttarakhand’s High Five Adventure organisation gave the message to people not to spread pollution. Representing from Dehradun, High Five Adventure Organisation’s Director Teku Thapa said that climate change is increasing very fast and due to this many changes are being seen on the glaciers and snowy mountains of the Himalayas. “This Independence Day, we are giving this message to the whole world along with the citizens of India and Nepal that whoever comes for trekking in the Himalayas should take great care of climate change and not bring any items with them that increase pollution. Also, if a person brings any item, then after using it, they should take it back so that no garbage can accumulate on the Himalayas”, he asserted.

High Five Adventure Organisation’s founder Narbin Magar said that there is a relation of beti-roti between India and Nepal, and every level of trade goes on widely every day between them. Very good business is also going on between Uttarakhand and Nepal in the field of adventure travel and tourism. ”We want this business to grow in the field of adventure travel and tourism and it is very important for all the travellers who come for trekking in the Himalayas, whether it is the Himalayan region of Uttarakhand or Nepal, to take care of climate change and pollution,” he reiterated.

At the Everest Base Camp, Indians and Nepalese observed silence and paid tribute to the people who lost their lives in the disaster in Dharali of Uttarkashi district of Uttarakhand.

Among those present were Teku Thapa, Suraj Thapa, Sarita Thapa, Tannu Sharma, Sneha Jain, Prasad Nair, Sanyukta Panurkar, Suraj Mohanty, Tarun Sharma, Narendra Kumar, Doctor Madhuri Jain, Leena Jain, Nazin, Avin Babu and Sharmila Magar, Biswas Ale Magar, Guide Siddharth Magar and Akl Thing from Nepal along with others.
