Mussoorie, 8 Jun: A commendable initiative was undertaken in Dhana village, Jaunpur Block, to economically empower rural women and make them self-reliant. During a programme organised by the Indra Surya Trust, various livelihood support tools were distributed to women to facilitate self-employment. The programme aimed to provide income-generating opportunities for women within their homes and to promote self-reliance in rural areas.
Colonel Anil Thapa (Retd), Founder and President of the Indra Surya Trust, distributed paper plate-making machines, sewing machines, equipment for making juice and pickles, and raw materials to the women. With these resources, the women will be able to start small-scale self-employment ventures and contribute to their family’s income. Colonel Anil Thapa stated that rural development is only possible when women are economically empowered. He remarked that education, skill development, and self-employment opportunities give women the strength to lead lives filled with confidence and dignity. The Trust strives to provide rural women with resources that enable them to stand on their own feet and become self-reliant. The event was organised under the leadership of Shibbi Bhai, President of the DBR Ambedkar Jan Jagriti Samiti, and Sabita Devi, the Zila Panchayat member from Khiyarsi Ward. Several social activists, public representatives, and prominent citizens from the area attended the event. Speakers emphasised that in present times, women need opportunities rather than mere assistance. With the right training and resources, they can not only improve their families’ financial status but also strengthen the rural economy. Welcoming the initiative, the rural women noted that the distributed equipment would serve as a new source of livelihood for them. During the programme, information regarding various self-employment opportunities and entrepreneurship was also shared with the women. This initiative is considered a significant step towards promoting women’s empowerment, self-employment, and sustainable livelihoods in rural areas. Local residents believe that such efforts will play a crucial role in bringing about economic transformation in villages while also making women self-reliant.
