Dehradun, 8 Jan: An initiative is being launched to involve students in the 38th National Games, which will take place in various cities of the state. Starting from Youth Day on 12 January, eight promotional containers will be sent to schools and colleges. Through these containers, students will be able to book seats for the sports competitions. Entry to the National Games is free of charge.

This year, Uttarakhand is hosting the National Games in its Silver Jubilee year. The games are scheduled to take place from 28 January to 14 February. Competitions will be held in cities like Dehradun, Haridwar, Shivpuri-Rishikesh, Koti Colony Tehri, Nainital, Rudrapur, Khatima, Haldwani, Almora, and Pithoragarh. The National Games Secretariat is working on preparations to ensure widespread participation. The aim is to involve every section of society, either directly or indirectly, in this event. The Youth Day initiative is a step towards engaging students.

According to Amit Sinha, Special Principal Secretary and CEO of the National Games Secretariat, eight promotional containers will begin visiting schools and colleges on 12 January. During this period, students will be able to book their seats by scanning QR codes.

“We want to engage all sections of society in the 38th National Games. Hosting these games is a matter of great pride for us. All competitions will be free to attend, so more people can witness this grand event. I especially urge students and youth to ensure their participation in this celebration,” Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has emphasised.
