Lok Sanhita celebrates 3rd Anniversary

Kotdwar, 27 Dec: Finance Minister Prakash Pant said, here, that journalism is not merely a profession but a social responsibility. He was speaking as the Chief Guest at the 3rd Anniversary Celebrations of Hindi daily Lok Sanhita.
He added that it was the bounden duty of newspapers to serve as a mirror of society and present the true picture of things on the ground. Unless this happened, real change would not come about in society.
Pant urged the ‘Lok Sanhita’ team to point out the shortcomings of the government and help make Uttarakhand a better place. He said that they should not merely criticise the government for the sake of criticism, but should have the welfare of the State at heart.
On the occasion, five individuals from diverse fields were honoured for their exemplary contribution to society: Jagat Singh Singh ‘Junglie’ (Environment), Anjali Nauriyal (Journalism & Social Service), Jaiveer Singh (Education), Dr Sandeep Agarwal of Pooja Hospital, Najibabad, and Dr Rekha Agarwal (Medicine).
Internationally acclaimed Country Music Singer Bobby Cash was the star attraction at the show and was honoured by Minister Pant with presentation of a shawl.
Publisher & Editor Vibhu Grover had invited a sizeable gathering on the occasion. He was praised by his well wishers for his single-minded determination and tenacity in establishing his paper in this part of Garhwal region. In a short span of three years, the newspaper has become well entrenched as the voice of the people and a platform for promoting change and progress.
Well known journalist and actor Satish Sharma was Master of Ceremonies.
Present on the occasion were BJP District Pauri President Shailendra Singh, Mayor Hemlata Negi, former Minister SS Negi, industrialist Pawan Kumar Agarwal, journalist Subhash Nautiyal and many others.
