Dehradun, 16 Jul: On the auspicious occasion of Harela today, a grand tree‑planting drive was organised in the premises of the newly constructed district court complex in Dehradun under the aegis of the District Legal Services Authority (DLSA), Dehradun. The drive was led by district and sessions judge Harish Kumar Goyal. The drive drew enthusiastic participation from the judicial officers, the lawyers and the court staff across the district. Addressing those present on those occasion, district judge Harish Kumar Goyal emphasised the significance of trees and stated that the trees are not only the foundation of environmental protection but also an invaluable legacy for the health and security of future generations. He added that the festival of Harela reminds every one of their responsibilities towards nature and urged people not only to plant more saplings but also to ensure their survival and nurturing with sincerity so as to create a clean and green environment. Demonstrating the judiciary’s social commitment, judicial officers from across Dehradun, office‑bearers of the Bar Association, senior advocates and staff from various court departments jointly planted a variety of shade‑giving and fruit‑bearing species in the court complex. At the conclusion of the programme all present took a collective pledge to ensure regular protection and care of the planted saplings.
