Dehradun, 11 Aug: With the purpose of adding eloquence to students’ ability to think and listen critically, and articulate thoughts confidently and persuasively, Kasiga School hosted its fourth edition of Silver Fiesta, an Inter-School Film Appreciation Competition.
The programme commenced with the felicitation of the guests which was followed by the lighting of the ceremonial lamp. The Head of School, Sonali Sinha, welcomed the guests and described cinema as a vehicle of education, awareness and youth sensitisation.
A workshop on cinema appreciation was taken by the Chief Guest, Dr Sonali Pattnaik, a film scholar and a professor of English Literature who has taught in Delhi and Mumbai Universities. Her research area focuses on corporeality and the theory of masquerade in the contemporary Bollywood cinema. Dr Pattnaik shared her expertise and bestowed students with valuable information during her workshop.
Mona Verma, an author, poet and academician, and Patrick Kerr, Deputy Director of Pestalozzi Children’s Village Society, were present as members of the jury.
The student-teams from eleven reputed schools ardently watched the movie, ‘Where is My Friend’s Home?’, and critiqued its plot, characters, techniques, music, dialogues and other creative elements.
Their interesting theses were a feast to behold. All participants were congratulated on their insightful presentations and confidence by the jury.
Team Welham Girls’ School was declared the winning team, while the teams from Lawrence School, Sanawar, and Kasiga School, Dehradun were adjudged the first and second runners up, respectively.
The coveted Jury Choice Award was conferred upon Ecole Globale Girls School.
The judges shared their profound insights on the nuances of movie making to further enrich students’ experience.
Present were Chairman Ramesh Batta, Director, Finance & Administration, Siddharth Batta, and Director, Welfare, Chandini Batta.
The event concluded with the Vote of Thanks proposed by the Deputy Head, Academics, Jose Tom.
