Dehradun/Mussoorie, 7 Dec: The Lal Bahadur Shastri National Academy of Administration will hold the Happy Valley Mussoorie Marathon on 24 December this year. The event is being organised to commemorate former Prime Minister and Bharat Ratna awardee Atal Bihari Vajpayee’s birth anniversary which falls on 25 December as Good Governance Day (Sushasan Divas). As part of its observance, the Academy is institutionalising an annual marathon event beginning this year, which will be held on 24 December.
For this Marathon event, registration and bib collection will be conducted on 23 December from LBSNAA at 9 a.m. and terminate at 1 p.m. at Happy Valley Football Ground and in the afternoon between 3 and 6 p.m. at AN Jha Lawns at LBSNAA.
The marathon event has been divided into four categories as per the length of the run, namely 5 km, 10 km, Half Marathon and Full Marathon. The cut off time for the full marathon has been kept at six and half hours, for half marathon at three hours and fifteen minutes and for 10 km at one hour and forty five minutes. The participants will have to apply online and later collect on 23 December their bib T-shirts.
The Academy administration has stated, “The mission is to promote Good Governance by providing quality training towards building a professional and responsive civil service in a caring, ethical and transparent framework. The foundational values the Academy attempts to instil in the civil servants are Austerity; to understand, assimilate and adopt the concept of frugal and simple life along with judicious management of public resources, Ability; to learn, unlearn and relearn tasks and skills relevant to the rapidly changing roles in the career of IAS, and Anonymity; to work silently for the nation without any desire of rewards, awards or publicity. The HVMM is primarily for officers and officials working in the government sector and the objective is to provide them the platform and opportunity to come together and run to spread the message of role of ‘Sabka Prayaas’ in Good Governance, besides focusing on the importance of fitness in active public life.”
