DEHRADUN, 20 Jan: In a bid to help Dehradun develop a truly creative public space in Doon, pocket money driven student activist group Making a Difference by Being the Difference (MAD) transformed yet another stretch of the Parade Ground’s shabby walls. This stretch that faces the Tibetan Market area is MAD’s ninth consecutive wall transformation on the ground’s perimeter.
MAD members created a doodle art form to stress on the need for cleanliness in the valley. MAD is doing, both, coloured and black and white art work in its wall transformation exercises.
Members worked hard to first whitewash the wall as it smelled of urine and greasy posters. It was then allowed to dry and the sketch was made after that. Colour was carefully filled and in half-a-dozen two hour sittings, the stretch was finally ready.
A closer look at the mural would show how MAD and Dehradun’s core issues such as pollution of each of its streams have been effectively highlighted. MAD plans to continue its campaign to reclaim public spaces with creative thinking and corresponding execution. Those who played an important role in the activity were Gautam Munka, Archie Bisht, Subhavi, Sanat, Utkarsh, Kunal, Shardul Aswal, Kartik, Pradeep and Shubham.
