DEHRADUN, 30 Aug: BJP State President and Rajya Sabha MP Mahendra Bhatt on Saturday visited the disaster-affected areas of Rudraprayag and Chamoli. During the visit, he assured the victims of complete help and took stock of the situation from the officials involved in the rescue operations. He also praised the local party workers for their cooperation in the relief and rescue efforts and instructed them to ensure arrangements for food, medicine, shelter, and other necessities for all those affected.
BJP’s State Media In-charge Manveer Singh Chauhan shared the details of the visit with the media and stated that Bhatt had conducted an on-site inspection of the disaster-hit areas of Basukedar and Agastyamuni in Rudraprayag district and Cheprhon, Dewal, and Tharali in Chamoli. During his visit, Bhatt also spoke with the victims who had suffered a loss of life and property. The BJP State Chief also boosted the morale of the disaster victims and assured them that the government and the party were standing fully with them. He added that Chief Minister Dhami had himself conducted an on-site visit to all the affected areas and assessed the damage. Expressing his condolences, he said that the loss of those who had died in this tragedy could not be compensated. However, as initial assistance, the government had provided Rs 5 lakh in aid to each such family and to those whose houses were destroyed. Bhatt reiterated that the first priority was to minimise the damage, and an assessment of the losses was being done at various levels. Based on this, the best possible compensation would be given to the victims, he claimed.
During the visit, the State Party president also spoke with the rescue teams and administrative officials. He took detailed information about the ground situation of the relief and rescue work and said that no stone would be left unturned in the rescue management. During his tour, he also met with the local party workers and officials and urged them to provide all possible help to the affected people. He said that everyone must act as a bridge between the public and the disaster management teams in the affected areas. He stressed that there should be no shortage of food, medicine, or shelter for the victims, and that everyone must work together to provide administrative and personal assistance.
Bhatt was accompanied by Tharali MLA and several office bearers and the state and district officials, including the local SDM, and party office-bearers during the visit.
