Graphic Era organises 3-day Microbiology conference

DEHRADUN, 10 May: In the national conference organized at Graphic Era, Mahesh Chandra Sahu from ICMR Regional Medical Research Centre, Bhubaneswar secured first position in the paper presentation competition.
In the conference, 26 research papers and 45 posters were presented on various areas of Microbiology. In the poster presentation of the same category Subhamoy Panigrahi from Lovely Professional University, Punjab secured the first place. In the plant- microbe interaction category Nikita Bansal from Graphic Era Deemed University won first place in paper presentation. In the poster category Omansh Thakur from Forest Research Institute came in first place.
In the medical category Rajan Malhotra from Manav Rachna International Institute of Research and Studies was given the first position for his research paper. Arpit Sharma from Shoolini Institute of Life Sciences and Business Management, Solan won first place in poster presentation. In bioinformatics category, Om Laxman Dole from Sikkim Professional University, Gangtok won first place in paper presentation and Mutaman Mohammed Alsamani Hago won first place in poster presentation.
This three-day national conference was on ‘Challenges in Microbiology’. On the final day,viz. Saturday Vice Chancellor of Graphic Era Deemed University  Narpinder Singh addressing the students laid stress on AI literacy in Microbiology is important. Emerging technologies such as AI, ML, and IOT are being used in areas like food preservatives, bacterial detection, health and food safety. He urged the students to conduct research in AI-powered image analysis to identify microbial colonies. Dean (Research) at Geeta University, Panipat (Haryana) also addressed the conference. On this occasion, a book ‘Bio- Control Agents for Sustainable Agriculture’ authored by HOD of Microbiology Department, Anju Rani and faculty Debasis Mitra was also launched.
The National Conference was organized by the Department of Microbiology and Department of Biotechnology in collaboration with Microbiology Society of India and TagGene Training and Research Institute.
