Dehradun, 23 July: The team coach and junior players of International Shito-Ryu Karate Organisation of India (ISKOI) met Governor Lt General Gurmit Singh (Retd) at the Raj Bhavan, here, on Tuesday. The Governor congratulated the children for their excellent performance in the 15th International Karate Championship held in Kathmandu, Nepal, and wished them the best for their bright future.
On this occasion, the team coach of ISKOI India, Vishwanath Rajput, informed the Governor that the team of Uttarakhand participated in the 15th International Karate Competition held at Dashrath Stadium in Kathmandu, in which 5 children won medals. Among them, Vibhuti Rana won gold medal in age group and bronze medal in weight category. At the same time, Samarth Goswami won bronze in age group, Vinayak Rana won bronze in weight category, Arnab Singh won bronze in age group and Siddharth Singh won bronze in weight category.
Lt Gen Singh said that the children have increased the pride of the state by winning medals at a young age, which is a source of inspiration for other children. He said that Karate not only improves physical health, but this art helps to deal with stress, increase self-confidence, and maintain psychological balance. He said that setting a goal and working to achieve it is commendable. These children not only pay full attention to their game, but also work hard for their studies, which is commendable.
