DEHRADUN, 4 Jul: The Rotary Club of Dehradun elected new president and secretary for the Rotary Year 2026-27. They took charge of the club in a colourful and impressive ceremony held at Leechee Garden, New Cantt. Road. The installation ceremony was attended by a large number of prominent Rotarians of the town. Justice Rajesh Tondon (Rtd.) was the chief guest on the occasion. Newly-elected president Megha Bansal in her address, highlighted the main agendas and missions of the next year. The following members were also included in the Board-Dr AK Srivastava (President elect.) Rtn. Joginder Singh (IPP) Patricia Hilton (V.P) Rtn. Praveen Kr. Gupta (Secretary) and Rtn. Rajat Sharma (Treasurer). Besides these members five directors were also elected to take care of other responsibilities. They are PP Tarun Bhatia, PP Gaurav Deep Singh, Rtn. Anupam Trivedi, Rtn. Madhu Berry and PP D.C. Bansal. Other key positions were offered to Rtn. Manju Grover (Sgt. At Arms), PDG Rakesh Agarwal (Club Advisor) and PP Dr RK Bakshi (Club Trainer).
The club launched three major projects on this occasion. In the first project, bicycles were distributed to eleven girls studying in Nari Shilp Mandir. In the next project, medicines were given to boys and girls suffering from thalassemia. The club also sponsored school fee for the entire year to a needy girl.
Twelve new members from different fields were inducted to the club. They are Purima Gairola, Anamika Mehta, Rekha Sharma, Om Prakash Dudani, Manmohan Sachdeva, Ankit Gupta, Anurag Gupta, Shreya Agarwal, Amita Gupta, Kamaldeep Singh, Devender Gahlot and BC Pandey. Every new member is equipped with new ideas and unique experience. The club will definitely work with more enthusiasm and passion to serve the community.
AG. Hemant Kochar and PP Dr. S. Farooq also delivered their speeches and expressed happiness to note the progress and contribution of the club in diverse fields of life.
Justice Rajesh Tondon delivered his key note address. He advised that Rotary Club should work to help the poor and needy litigants fighting for justice in various courts. They find it difficult to meet the legal expenses and exorbitant fee of lawyers. Justice Tondon also expressed happiness at the service rendered by Rotary Club for different sections of society.
President Elect Dr Srivastava proposed a vote of thanks.
