Dehradun, 13 Nov: On the occasion of Diwali, Soldiers’ Welfare Minister Ganesh Joshi celebrated Diwali with the soldiers and fire warriors of 8th Garhwal Rifles at Garhi Cantt, here. Joshi offered sweets to the soldiers and congratulated them on the festival of lights.
The Minister said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami celebrate Diwali with the soldiers every year. He said, being the Minister of Soldiers’ Welfare, he always tries to celebrate Diwali with the soldiers of the Indian Army. He recalled that, during his military service, he too had celebrated Diwali on the borders.
Joshi added that the soldiers of the army and paramilitary forces work in difficult conditions to protect the country in inaccessible areas. He said that because of these soldiers the entire country sleeps peacefully. The bravery and courage with which the soldiers perform their duties while staying away from their families is laudable. The minister said that it is the duty of all to respect the soldiers.
On this occasion, Colonel Arsh Deep Singh, SM Devendra, Lieutenant Colonel Prashant, Captain Anup Kumar Verma, Major Ashish, JCOs and soldiers of Garhwal Rifles along with State Convenor of BJP Ex-Servicemen Cell, Colonel Raghubir Singh Bhandari were also present.
