Kochi, 1 Mar: On the third day of his Kerala tour, State Agriculture Minister Ganesh Joshi visited the Cochin Shipyard in Kochi today. He went around the country’s first indigenous aircraft carrier, INS Vikrant.

He was accompanied by senior officers of the Navy.  Minister Joshi praised INS Vikrant and also congratulated the officers of the Indian Navy.

Joshi also met the officers hailing from Uttarakhand and inquired about their condition. He said that the country’s first indigenous aircraft carrier reflects the strength of self-reliant India. He said that a replica of INS Vikrant would be installed in the military memorial to be built in Uttarakhand. He would soon hold talks with Indian Navy officials in this regard.

Minister Joshi also expressed gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi for this achievement, as INS Vikrant is the largest ship ever built in India under the Make in India vision. Joshi added that Vikrant is not just a warship – it is also a symbol of the hard working commitment of the new India of the 21st century. It would give a big boost to protection of the maritime borders of the country.
