Minister Joshi holds meeting on construction of Doon-Mussoorie Ropewa

Dehradun, 16 Jan: Cabinet Minister Ganesh Joshi held a meeting with officials of the Tourism Department and District Administration regarding the construction of the proposed Doon-Mussoorie Ropeway at his Camp Office on Tuesday.

Officials informed him that all the formalities related to the Ropeway have been completed. Work on the LTP (Lower Terminal Point) has started. The construction work would be completed by November 2026. The ropeway will be from Purkul village in Dehradun to Gandhi Chowk in Mussoorie. The length of the entire ropeway is about 5.5 km. Approximately Rs 300 crore will be spent on this project.

Joshi directed the officials to complete the Doon-Mussoorie ropeway construction work within the stipulated time limit. He also issued instructions to shift the building of the Garhwal Sabha that is in the way of the ropeway and to immediately identify land for the new Sabha building.

He asserted that, after the completion of this project, tourism would get a boost and the traffic on the Dehradun-Mussoorie Road would also reduce. Local people and tourists would get relief from the traffic jams during the tourism season.

Additional Secretary, Tourism, Yugal Kishore Pant, Deepak Saini, Tehsildar Shadab, Bharti Jain, Tribhuvan Rana, Rohit Shah, District Panchayat Vice President Deepak Pundir, etc., were present at the meeting.
