Mir Ranjan Negi praises quality of food at National Games

Haridwar, 4 Feb: Former Indian hockey team goalkeeper and coach and “Chak De India” inspiration Mir Ranjan Negi has praised the quality and purity of food provided to players and staff at the National Games in Uttarakhand.

During his visit to the Vandana Kataria Hockey Stadium in Haridwar here, today, Negi stated that while he regularly attends major sporting events, the nutritional standards and food quality maintained at the National Games in Uttarakhand are exceptional. He commended the Food Safety and Drug Administration Department for their meticulous efforts in ensuring high standards.

Negi emphasised that nutritious and hygienic food is crucial for athletes’ performance, and the department’s continuous monitoring ensures that players receive the best quality meals.

Ganesh Chandra Kandwal, Nodal Officer of the Food Safety and Drug Administration Department, informed that 18 teams have been deployed to oversee food quality, hygiene, and nutrition. Strict SOPs have been issued for hotels and food venues, while mobile teams are conducting regular inspections. Local food products have also been incorporated into the meals to enhance nutritional value.
