Dehradun, 10 Feb: BJP MLA from Tehri, Kishore Upadhyay called on Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami at his official residence here today. During the meeting, Upadhyay submitted a detailed memorandum outlining ten major developmental priorities for the Tehri Assembly constituency. The proposals, earlier invited by the Chief Minister, were reiterated by the MLA to ensure they receive due consideration in the state’s planning agenda.

The key demands include the establishment of a medical college in New Tehri, the development of Sridev Suman University as a full-fledged campus university and the upgradation of Tehri Hydro Engineering College to the level of an IIT. Upadhyay also sought university status for the Ranichauri Forestry and Horticulture Campus (which is currently part of VCSG Uttarakhand University of Horticulture) and for the Hemvati Nandan Garhwal University located at Badshahithaul. He also pressed for the conversion of Sursinghdhar Nursing College into a postgraduate institution.

Upadhyay also demanded development of New Tehri Stadium into a world-class facility. In addition, the MLA requested CM’s approval for 200 kilometres of new roads in the constituency, a pure drinking water scheme for New Tehri town and the declaration of Tehri Assembly residents as OBCs, similar to those in Pratapnagar and Uttarkashi.

During the meeting, Upadhyay emphasised that these projects are vital for the holistic development of Tehri and will significantly strengthen education, healthcare, infrastructure and social welfare in the region. The CM assured that the proposals would be examined with priority and necessary action would be taken in the larger public interest.
