Dehradun, 24 Jun: A special welfare camp was organised at the Valmiki Temple premises in Sanjay Colony, Patel Nagar, today, under the directions of District Magistrate Dr Ashish Chauhan. Dehradun Cantt MLA Savita Kapoor was present as the chief guest on the occasion. The camp, conducted by the Social Welfare Department, aimed to directly link sanitation workers and their dependants with various welfare schemes of the central and state governments. Different departments set up stalls to resolve public grievances on the spot and extend benefits according to eligibility.

A major highlight of the camp was the distribution of 130 assistive devices to 45 elderly beneficiaries, facilitated by the Artificial Limbs Manufacturing Corporation of India. Cantt MLA Savita Kapoor handed over the equipment to the recipients and praised the initiative, saying that such camps ensure direct benefits of government schemes reach the most deprived sections of society and should be continued regularly in public interest. During the camp, doctors from the Health Department team examined 95 people and distributed free medicines as required. More than 300 beneficiaries were enrolled under pension and loan schemes, with applications filled on the spot. The Women and Child Development Department distributed two Mahalaxmi kits, five Kishori kits and two God Bharai kits to promote nutrition and empowerment among women and girls.

The camp also saw participation from Assistant Manager Digambar Sajwan, local councillor Doli Rani Mohan, Vishal Birla and officials from various departments, who worked together to ensure smooth delivery of services and benefits to the community.
