Modi dedicates redeveloped Harrawala Railway Station to nation

Dehradun, 17 Jul: Prime Minister Narendra Modi today dedicated the redeveloped Harrawala Railway Station in Dehradun to the nation as part of the inauguration of 75 redeveloped railway stations across the country under the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme. The inauguration was done on a virtual basis by the PM even as Uttarakhand Governor Lt Gen Gurmit Singh (Retd) and Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami were physically present at the station on the occasion.

Later, describing the redevelopment of Harrawala Railway Station as a matter of pride for Uttarakhand, CM Dhami expressed gratitude to PM Narendra Modi and Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw on behalf of the people of the state. He said the modern railway station would give fresh momentum to the vision of a Developed India while strengthening Uttarakhand’s development journey.

The CM observed that the station has been redeveloped at a cost of nearly Rs 19 crores and reflects the natural beauty of the Doon Valley as well as Uttarakhand’s rich cultural heritage. Traditional ‘Aipan’ art has been incorporated into the station premises, creating a harmonious blend of modern infrastructure and local culture. He said the state-of-the-art passenger amenities would make rail travel safer, more convenient and more comfortable.

Dhami also claimed that the Indian Railways is presently undergoing an unprecedented transformation under the leadership of PM Modi. Continuous improvements have been made in railway modernisation, safety, speed and technological efficiency, while indigenous trains such as Vande Bharat and Namo Bharat have emerged as significant symbols of an Atmanirbhar Bharat.

He said the long-cherished dream of extending railway connectivity to Uttarakhand’s mountainous regions is also being realised rapidly with the support of the Union Government. The CM shared that more than 75 percent of the work on the Rishikesh-Karnaprayag Rail Project has already been completed and added that this highly ambitious project would provide a major boost to the state’s social, economic and tourism development. He also noted that the two Vande Bharat trains operating in Uttarakhand had significantly improved travel convenience for passengers and tourists visiting the state.

Highlighting the Centre’s support for railway infrastructure in the state, the CM reminded that Uttarakhand has received a record railway budget allocation of Rs 4,769 crores this year. Railway projects worth more than Rs 39,491 crores are currently under various stages of implementation across the state, he said, adding that this reflects PM Modi’s special commitment and affection towards Uttarakhand.

Dhami expressed confidence that the redeveloped Harrawala Railway Station would emerge as an important milestone in Uttarakhand’s development and further strengthen the state’s commitment to achieving the goal of a developed Uttarakhand in line with the national vision of a Developed India.

Besides Governor Lt Gen Gurmit Singh (Retd), Doiwala MP Trivendra Singh Rawat, Tehri MP Mala Rajyalaxmi Shah, Rajya Sabha MP Naresh Bansal, Cabinet Minister Dhan Singh Rawat and local MLA Brij Bhushan Gairola, several other public representatives, senior officials of Indian Railways, officers of the state government and a large number of local residents and dignitaries were among those present on the occasion.
