Modi, Shah express grief and offer support to U’khand after Uttarkashi cloudburst

Dehradun, 5 Aug: Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah today expressed profound grief over the tragic cloudburst that struck Dharali village in Uttarkashi district, Uttarakhand. In a tweet posted today, Modi expressed heartfelt condolences to those affected by the tragedy in Dharali, Uttarkashi, and wished for the safety and well-being of all victims. He stated that he had spoken with Chief Minister Pushkar Dhami to obtain an update on the prevailing situation. Relief and rescue teams, operating under the supervision of the state government, are making every possible effort to address the crisis. According to the Prime Minister, no stone is being left unturned to ensure that assistance reaches those in need.

On the other hand, Union Home Minister Amit Shah also conveyed condolences for the loss of lives and damage to property, extending his sympathies to all affected families.

Shah called up Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami over telephone and sought to know the details regarding the incident and the latest situation. During the conversation, Shah assured the state of comprehensive assistance from the Centre.

Taking cognisance of the gravity of the incident, the Home Minister has also directed the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) and other relief agencies concerned to undertake immediate and effective action. Meanwhile in the wake of the natural disaster, the CM has cancelled his scheduled tour and departed at once for Dehradun. The officials claim that Union Home Minister remains in continuous contact with the state government, ensuring the timely provision of essential aid and support to mitigate the impact of the calamity on the region.

Later, on Facebook, CM Dhami has confirmed that Union Home Minister Shah has assured the state all possible help to deal with this disaster.
