Mulayam Singh’s ashes immersed in Ganga at Haridwar

Dehradun, 17 Oct: The ashes of Samajwadi Party founder Mulayam Singh Yadav were immersed in River Ganga at Nildhara located near Chandi Ghat. The rituals were performed today by Akhilesh Yadav, Mulayam Singh Yadav’s son and President of the Samajwadi Party, and other members of the family. The Teerth Purohit of the Yadav family, Shailesh Mohan, performed the rituals, following which Akhilesh Yadav immersed the ashes in the Ganga.

After immersion of the ashes, Akhilesh also took a dip in the Ganga and prayed for his father’s eternal peace. Also present were Mulayam Singh Yadav’s brother Shivpal Yadav, cousin Ram Gopal Yadav, son Prateek Yadav, daughter-in-law Dimple Yadav, Akhilesh’s daughters Tina and Aditi, son Arjun and cousin Dharmendra Yadav, Tej Pratap Yadav, Anshul Yadav, Akshay Yadav, Anurag Yadav, Chhotu Yadav, Aditya Yadav, etc.

On the occasion, MLAs, former MLAs, MPs and party workers from several districts of Uttar Pradesh, besides local cadre from Haridwar were also present at the Chandi Ghat. During the immersion of the ashes, Samajwadi party workers raised slogans like ‘Dharti Putra Mulayam Singh Amar Rahe’, ‘Netaji Amar Rahe’ and ‘Zindabad’. The Yadav family later returned to the airport after bidding farewell to the late Mulayam Singh Yadav.

Earlier, Akhilesh Yadav and the rest of the Yadav family had arrived this morning at Jolly Grant Airport in Dehradun from where they straightaway headed to Haridwar.

It may be recalled that Samajwadi founder and three-time Chief Minister of UP Mulayam Singh Yadav passed away on 10 October in New Delhi following prolonged illness.
