Dehradun, 23 May: A Muslim woman has accused her husband and his family of pressuring her to change her religion and committing other serious offences. She had earlier filed a complaint (FIR No. 94/2022) at Rajpur Police Station.
As per the information, a charge sheet was submitted in the case, and a witness named Sagar Chaudhary confirmed that the religious conversion took place at Shiv Kali Mandir. Now, the woman has filed a fresh complaint. She alleges that a fake conversion certificate was used in court and in another police case filed against her.
She claims the forged certificate was made under the name “Prempal Shastri” and suspects that Pandit Dheeraj from Shiv Kali Mandir may be involved, as his father’s name is also Prempal. Sharon also said that when she asked Pandit Dheeraj for the original certificate, he asked for Rs 50,000 and behaved inappropriately. She added that her mother received threats from Sukrant’s parents, asking them to take back all complaints and pay Rs 10 lakh.
Sharon said she married Sukrant on November 1, 2019, at Shiv Kali Mandir in Dehradun after converting to Hinduism. But now she claims the conversion certificate is fake. She says she never went to Dadri in Uttar Pradesh, where the certificate was reportedly made. Sharon also said her signature on the certificate is fake, and the document is in English instead of Hindi, which is unusual for temple documents.
Sharon met Sukrant in October 2018. On January 26, 2019, she says he raped her in a hotel in Delhi by promising marriage. Later, she divorced her previous husband, Moin, through khula, a type of Islamic divorce. She did not tell her family at first. She said two friends of Sukrant—Sagar and Nikit—were present at their marriage.
After marriage, Sharon claims Sukrant changed his behavior because of pressure from his family. She says she was mistreated and later abandoned. She also says her in-laws did not accept her because she is Muslim.
