Mussoorie, 22 Jan: The residents of Mussoorie were greeted today by the first snowfall of the season due to the western disturbance active in the region. The weather became extremely chilly and the town was greeted with snow and hail due to which the Queen of the Hills was covered with a white sheet of snow. The snow covered the town and nearby hills, presenting a mesmerising view, to the delight of the tourists. The tourists coming from all over the world were seen happily enjoying the snow.
The chilly conditions forced people to wrap up hard. Cold winds swept the town on Tuesday, bringing about a sharp fall in the temperature. Meanwhile, normal life was affected in Mussoorie and nearby areas as the snowfall and rain lashed the town.
The State Meteorological Centre ruled out any relief from rainfall and forecast light to moderate rain for the next 24 hours in the state. Officials said the higher reaches located 3,500 metres and above would continue to receive snowfall. Meanwhile Nag Tibba, the area of Devi Kol, Dhanolty and the Himalayan ranges were the recipients of hail and snow today.
Local residents were very happy as the flow of tourists will increase in Mussoorie providing better business. The cloud cover looked ominous and tourists have extended their stay in expectation of more snow.
