Dehradun, 1 Apr: Myra Care Foundation, powered by Shine Avi Learning USA, today addressed a press conference at Uttaranchal Press Club here. The press conference was jointly addressed by Anita Sharma, Operations Head of the foundation, Founder Dr Nishant Nawani and Co Founder Dr Jaya Nawani, who highlighted the organisation’s vision of creating a comprehensive and sustainable support ecosystem for individuals with autism and other developmental conditions within the state. It may be noted here that the press conference was addressed on the occasion of World Autism Awareness Day.
On this occasion, the speakers outlined the plans of Myra Care Foundation towards strengthening autism care and inclusive education in Uttarakhand. Anita Sharma, Dr Nishant and Dr Jaya Nawani shared that the initiative has been positioned in alignment with the state government’s focus on reverse migration, with support from the Pravasi Cell, and aims to reduce the need for families to move to metropolitan cities in search of specialised services. The foundation has established what it described as a first-of-its-kind holistic learning centre in India, offering an integrated continuum of care under one roof, ranging from early intervention and individualised education to social and life skills development, along with structured independent work systems for adolescents and adults.
Speaking on the occasion, Anita Sharma and Nawani said that the centre is designed to provide a comprehensive continuum of care under one roof, ranging from early intervention and individualised education to social and life skills development, along with structured independent work systems for adolescents and adults. The model has been developed drawing upon over two decades of experience in autism education and advocacy, focusing on structured and evidence-based programmes aimed at enabling individuals with developmental challenges to achieve independence and reach their full potential.
As part of its efforts to promote inclusive education, Shine Avi Publications Pvt Ltd is set to launch a visual-based curriculum comprising more than 2,700 books, aimed at providing a modified and accessible method of learning for children who are unable to learn through traditional teaching approaches. The curriculum is based on the principle that teaching methods must adapt to the learning needs of the child and is proposed to be implemented through pull-out resource rooms in mainstream schools, with a focus on skill development for children with developmental delays and learning difficulties.
