Dehradun, 6 May: The Dehradun Municipal Corporation (Doon Nagar Nigam) has launched a decisive and sustained campaign to free the city from illegal encroachments. The officials claim that the administration is sending out a clear message that no form of occupation of public property will be tolerated. Over the past month, extensive action has been taken across several areas, with government land reclaimed and unauthorised constructions demolished.

In Nathanpur, a boundary wall illegally constructed on khasra number 8 was demolished, freeing nearly 860 square metres of land. At Paris Vihar, four unauthorised houses built on khasra number 102 were razed and the land restored to the corporation. Similarly, in Brahmanwala Khala, 300 square metres and 150 square metres of land were cleared of encroachments and ownership boards were installed. In Kandoli, about 400 square metres of land was reclaimed and marked under corporation ownership.

In Makkawala, illegal construction on corporation land was demolished today, while in Navada, a gate and boundary wall erected on a public road were demolished to restore smooth passage for residents. In Chakrata Road’s Chaktunwala area, encroachments on drains were cleared to strengthen drainage systems. Land was also freed from encroachments in Nehrugram, Indrapur, Basant Vihar, Semadwar, Salan village and Shivalik Nagar.

Municipal Commissioner Namami Bansal reminded that, to ensure transparency and accountability in the campaign, the corporation has developed the Anu-Portal. The land section has clarified that any future illegal occupation or construction will invite strict legal action without prior notice, and repeated violations will be dealt with under provisions relating to public nuisance.

She also appealed to citizens to abide by regulations and cooperate in keeping the city clean, orderly and free from encroachments. The campaign will continue with full vigour under the policy of zero tolerance towards illegal occupation.
